Lesson Schedule Update for week of January 10th 2022...

Exciting news update 🥳

We are in the process of finalizing the plans for changing the footing in the indoor. Unfortunately it will be an estimated 4-5 day long project and will require all lessons and hacking to be canceled until complete. We anticipate being able to solidify the plans by tomorrow afternoon and will keep everyone informed as quickly as possible of the exact days that will be impacted. Expect to receive notice from your instructor in the next 48 hours in this regard. Stay tuned y’all :)

Busy bees buzzing as if it were 465...

We realize everyone is busy, we’re all busy. We all have places to be and a ton of things to do… BUT, speeding in our driveway will no longer be tolerated! The posted speed limit sign states 5 MPH which is defined as “A fast walking pace or speed is: 12 minutes per mile (5miles per hour). THIS WOULD MEAN THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP up with your car AT A FAST WALK OR SLOW JOG down the entire driveway TO THE PARKING LOT. We have very small dogs, a big dog, barn and house cats and not to mention children and ponies romping around at any given time. If you have spouses, family members or others dropping off lesson students that are not privy to this communication we would expect you to please pass it on. Just as we would not expect to speed in your neighborhood and driveway, we appreciate your understanding and your continued business! SLOW DOWN and enjoy your time here to the fullest!

Upcoming horse show season...

After researching various options of how and where to publish the upcoming show schedule we opted to utilize a calendar app which allows us to send out invitations of any events to interested individuals. This link will be sent via email and include an estimate of costs and a prize list. By default all boarders will be invited, any lesson students will receive an invitation upon request. We welcome your feedback and comments, happy planning y’all!

Lesson Schedule Update

We appreciate everyone’s patience with the ever changing lesson schedule during these crazy temperature dips! Obviously we would like for everyone to get their weekly opportunity of much needed “horsey time”, the forecast however doesn’t appear to be changing much in the next few days so this coming week might be another consolidation of lesson days and times. What does that mean exactly? If your lesson falls on a day that proves to be too cold to ride and or teach, we will attempt to provide an alternate day and time based on the forecast. So private lesson spots may end up being semi-privates or groups temporarily but we will keep everyone advised on a daily basis so stay tuned and stay warm! 🥶

Upcoming Show & Clinic Schedule Notifications...

We are in the process of utilizing a google calendar highlighting all of the show and clinic options for the year. If you are currently a Sport Horse boarder or lesson student who has expressed interest in showing you will receive an email invite which will allow you access to this schedule. The schedule will include attachments such as prize lists, daily schedules, deadlines for registration (if applicable) and an estimate for show fees. We are hopeful that this set up will allow for a seamless experience regardless of the device used for access and assisting you in making an informed decision about showing opportunities while allowing us to keep our travel schedule private.

Please let us know of any bugs or difficulties you’ve encountered accessing this information, without your input we assume all links and set ups are functional as intended. Happy show planning ya’ll!

Holiday Lesson Schedule

With holiday season in full swing we’ve been receiving inquiries about scheduling lessons during the day once school is out for Christmas break (presumably the week of the 21st). Anyone interested in doing so please send options preferably via email, text is okay but harder to keep track of with so many every day. I will be working on putting that schedule together sometime in the next few of days so stay tuned for updates! 🎄

Brave Horse Wrap Up...

Brave Horse VI proved to be a trip of a few inaugural things… The drive there itself was one of the most stressful I’ve personally experienced and for the first time in 30 plus years only 1 hour after our departure Brian turned the truck and trailer back home. Lucky appeared to have a “young” horse moment, a panic attack in the trailer sustained what appeared to be only superficial injuries but proved enough to not be able to show. The remainder of the drive was uneventful and after our delayed arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful facility and well managed show.

The horse show banner once again collected all the rewards of SHi riders and horses reflecting their best efforts. A huge congrats to the inaugural duo, Pam and Liam for their win in the Ariat Adult Medal AND the Adult Hunter Classic. Award highlights include Alice and Apollo bringing home 1, 2 and 3rd place ribbons in their respective Medium and High Jumpers, Lauren and D captured 3, 5 and 6th placings in their Medium and Low/Child Adult Jumpers, the inaugural duo of Libby and Heartrock were awarded with a 6th placing in the Intermediate Adult Jumpers and Aila and Sandro dabbled in the Low Child/Adult Jumpers with a 4th placing. Due to the late hour of the show finishing on Sunday we did not get the customary picture of the banner and its respective supporters. After our stressful trip there we were more than eager to hit the road home and pulled it off with a 3.5 hour drive home.

Brave Horse is hoping to put on another show in October, the weekend of the 17th and 18th to be exact. We are waiting for their USEF approval to make plans for our return!

ATTENTION ALL Sport Horse STUDENTS!

The issue of addressing personal responsibility and consideration for others is not a new one, however the rising lack of both warrants immediate attention. Sport Horse prides itself as barn of do it “yourselvers”, i.e. grooming our own mount, cleaning our own tack, picking up after ourselves, etc. Somewhere this message has been lost to levels that are UNACCEPTABLE! Water bottles, various drink containers, empty candy rappers and chip bags left laying in the indoor, the outdoor, the lesson tack room, the iselways and the parking lot… Crops of various sizes and colors hanging on stalls, laying in the sand of either ring or in isle ways… Lesson bridles left hanging on stall fronts… Sand, poop and mud covered unswept wash racks and isle ways from walking horses through… Grooming lesson totes left out in isle ways and various brushes left in the grass by the wash rack…

The premise here is very SIMPLE… PUT YOUR STUFF AWAY! Hang bridles on their respective hook, that is why they are labeled by name! Put crops back on the crop holder in the tack room. Hang lightly used saddle pads on the stall bars or take sweaty/dirty ones to the laundry bin in the tack room! Put your grooming tote back in the tack room. If your horse made a mess in the isle way while you’re walking it to or from your lesson, CLEAN IT UP! If your horse made a mess in the wash rack, CLEAN IT UP! We have ample brooms, shovels, muck tubs and trash containers placed in the barn to assist you with these responsibilities so USE THEM and then put them back so the next person can find them! The tack room in the main barn is for BOARDERS ONLY, any supplies and tack found in this room is NOT FOR LESSON USE! If you cannot find what you need to get your lesson horse ready ASK YOUR INSTRUCTOR FOR ASSISTANCE! If you are unsure of clean up protocols, AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR FOR ASSISTANCE!

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR LEAVING A MESS OR TRASH FOR THE PERSON THAT GETS HERE AFTER YOU! IT’S RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE. We are here to instruct and guide your equestrian endeavors, NO ONE is here to clean up after you. If everyone does their share, we will all be able to enjoy being with horses on some level or another! See y’all at the barn :)

Upcoming Brave Horse VI Show Update...

In anticipation of stalls being sold out, we are mailing the Brave Horse Show (Aug 27-30) stall reservations by Monday, August 3rd. Anyone interested in attending please leave your $100 check made payable to Brave Horse by Sunday, August 2nd in the barn payment box. To ensure proper hay, equipment and tack hauling, we are limiting participation to eight horses.

Happy showing y’all!!!

Upcoming 2020 Events...

With shows seemingly back in full swing we have managed to preliminarily plan the remainder of the 2020 season! We’d like to solidify plans accordingly now to have the best chance of ensuring our attendance and for this to happen we need your input. For ease of review we have summarized the event possibilities in a multiple choice format below. Please choose which events you are able and would like to partake keeping in mind cancellations are a distinct possibility pending further COVID restrictions:

Social Media Update...

Ya’ll have hinted for some time that we should have a “Sport Horse Barn” page, coupled with the break we are taking from hosting shows it seemed an opportune time to change the FaceBook “SportHorseEvents” page to the “SportHorseInc” page. With two shows under our belt in the past 30 days, we’ve yet to review all of the pictures and videos sent us. Between the upload/download speeds of our mediocre internet speed we struggle to review and post all of your media ourselves. Our hope is for everyone to contribute to these posts directly with their pictures and videos so that we are able to keep up with current events on a more timely basis. We “believe” the FaceBook settings to be accurate allowing everyone to contribute, but if anyone has any trouble please let us know. Ya’ll have been rocking it so let’s get posting!

A subtle reminder...

It has come to our attention that messes big and small are being left around various barn areas including wash racks and isle ways. WE COLLECTIVELY share the responsibility to clean up after ourselves and horses.

Put brushes/grooming boxes and tack in their respective place so that the next student may find them.

Used sweaty saddle pads are to be hung on the metal rack across from the main barn bathroom.

Pick up horse poop and sweep arena sand prints from the iselways and wash racks, there are plenty of brooms, shovels and muck tubs for this purpose.

Any one who is unfamiliar with equipment and tack location please ask for assistance, there is NO EXCUSE for a messy barn! Your habits are a reflection of you… Clean up and pick up after yourself!

Upcoming Summer Events...

With spring in the air and activities resuming to some degree we are cautiously optimistic in planning the next few months of clinics and shows. While the details of what future shows will exactly look like are still in the air, we are fairly certain that the numbers of participants will be limited to say the least and once USEF/USHJA announce details of protocols and schedules, demand will far outweigh opportunities! With this in mind we’d like to plan accordingly now to have the best chance of ensuring our attendance and for this to happen we need your input. For ease of review we have summarized the event possibilities in a multiple choice format below. Please choose which events you are able and would like to partake keeping in mind cancellations are a distinct possibility pending further COVID restrictions:
